Try Scuba Diving in Gran Canaria
Try Scuba in Gran Canaria: your love story with the ocean starts here
You don’t need experience, equipment, or a secret past life as a sea creature. Just the urge to try something amazing.
When you are thinking about trying scuba… but don’t know where to start?
We get it. The ocean has a vibe — mysterious, wild, kind of magical. And yeah, also a little intimidating at first.
The doubts creep in:

No military drills. No final exams.
Just your first real underwater adventure: marine life, bubbles, and that epic moment when you realize, “Wait… I’m breathing underwater!”
It’s one of those things you just have to try at least once in your life.

Thoroughly recommend Miles and Mario and their team. Very professional and friendly. Made me feel so comfortable. Did my refresher dive with them as well as a dive for fun and sightseeing. Fantastic dives, just no end of fish to look at and Miles knew the locations so well to be able to take to me see some really amazing things. Was relaxed and had an amazing day diving. Aditionally they have spent time sourcing the most eco friendly ethical equipment avaliable which i really appreciated. Would go again. Thank you so much for the fabulous holiday memories.Posted on Google Carlos Martínez (carlosalba13)3 July 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Posted on Google Gema Bautista3 July 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Experiencia genial! Hemos buceado con Mario, quién nos ha transmitido muchísima tranquilidad y confianza y hemos disfrutado mucho de las inmersiones! Es el centro con el material más nuevo y cuidado con el que hemos buceado. 100% recomendable!Posted on Google Carine abram3 July 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 😊 Merci encore pour cette super expériencePosted on Google Aneta Skoneczna29 June 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. So fun! It was my first dive in a year and they were so good at showing me the ropes (again) and making sure the gear was sorted. Saw an octopus, some rays, a ton of fish. David and Benjamin were both amazing guides!!! Visit them—and book directly with the shop (rather than Get Your Guide) as they have to pay GTG 30% of the amount.Posted on Google David Zor23 June 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hice el curso Open Water con Brothers Diving. Mario y David son grandes profesionales que trasmiten confianza y con mucha paciencia, lo recomiendo muchísimo.Posted on Google Fiona22 June 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 4 days diving with Myles, Davide and Mario. Frequently Asked Questions About Your Try Scuba in Gran Canaria
Do I need to know how to swim to try scuba diving?
You don’t need to be Michael Phelps, but yeah, you should feel okay in the water.
We’ll be right there with you, and you’ll have gear that helps you float like a pro.
Do I need a medical certificate?
No, you just need to fill out a medical questionnaire with some health-related questions.
You can download the required medical questionnaire here.
Should you answer to any of the 10 questions with a YES, you will have to answer some additional questions on the second form.
- – If all the answers are NO, you are fit to dive.
- – If any answer is a YES, you will have to present a dive medical signed by a professional doctor.
On page 3 of this questionnaire, you will find the Diver Medical | Physician‘s Evaluation Form. You can print this one out, and present it with the rest of your declaration for your Doctor’s evaluation.
Please read the questionnaire and follow the steps.
What’s the minimum age to try scuba diving?
You can join Try Scuba from age 8, and Basic Diver from age 10.
If you’re under 18, we’ll need a signed consent from your parent or guardian.
How long does the experience last?
Try Scuba lasts around 4 hours, and Basic Diver around 6.
Both include prep time, a safety briefing, and, of course, your time underwater.
Where does the Try Scuba take place?
Always in the ocean, never in a pool.
We pick the best spot based on the day’s weather. Some favorites: Playa de Tufia, Risco Verde, and Playa de Amadores.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, we recommend doing so as soon as possible because our spots are limited and we need time to plan accordingly.
To secure your place, you can make a 30% deposit.
What if I can’t make it on my booked date?
No worries. You can reschedule for free with a little notice.
If you cancel within 24 hours, the deposit is non-refundable (we’ve got an instructor reserved just for you!).
What can first-time divers see in Gran Canaria?
Gran Canaria is a diver’s paradise, offering a diverse range of marine life and underwater landscapes.
First-time divers can expect to see colourful fish, fascinating rock formations, and maybe even a friendly octopus or two. There could be chances to encounter cuttlefishes, crabs, and stingrays.
The clear waters and abundant marine life make it an ideal location for your first dive. Nontheless, we must make clear that we are not able to promise seeing any specific species.
How long should I wait before flying after diving?
To ensure your safety, SSI recommends waiting at least 12 hours after one Try Scuba dive before flying. Therefore, we suggest making this experience at the beginning of your holiday so you can fully enjoy the opportunity to do multiple dives.
