Scuba Diving in Gran Canaria with Brothers Diving

Diving in Gran Canaria with Brothers Diving means a relaxed, safe, and unforgettable experience. We keep groups small, use high-quality equipment, and take our time.

Each day, we pick the dive site based on weather, sea conditions, and your level to make sure you get the best possible dive.

Gran Canaria’s waters are full of surprises. Spot angel sharks resting on the sand, rays gliding by, octopi hiding in plain sight, and colorful schools of trumpetfish and grunts.

The volcanic seabed creates the perfect stage for a unique underwater show in every dive.

Gran Canaria enjoys mild, stable weather year-round.

Air temperature ranges from around 20°C in winter to 28°C in summer. Water temperature ranges from 18°C in winter to 25°C in summer, making it comfortable for diving in a 7mm wetsuit in cooler months and a 5mm in summer.

The island rarely experiences extreme weather, which means diving is possible on almost every day of the year.

SSI and all major diving agencies recommend waiting at least 12 hours after a single no-decompression dive before flying, and at least 18 hours after multiple dives or several days of diving. This is to allow residual nitrogen to clear safely from your body.

We always recommend planning your last dive at least the day before your flight home.

Yes, Gran Canaria is one of the best places in Europe to learn to dive. Conditions are calm, visibility is excellent (up to 30 metres), and there is virtually no current at most beginner-friendly sites like Tufia or Risco Verde. The marine life is engaging and abundant, which makes the experience rewarding even on your very first dive.

Brothers Diving works with complete beginners every day and has developed a relaxed, patient approach to teaching.

Very little — we provide all the diving equipment you need, including wetsuit, BCD, regulator, tank, mask, fins, and dive computer. Just bring a swimsuit, a towel, sun protection, and a small snack or water for after the dive. If you have your own equipment, you are welcome to use it.

Of course. Our Try Scuba and Basic Diver programs are perfect for getting started in calm, safe spots.

You will start with a short briefing on shore, practice basic skills in shallow water until you feel relaxed, then do a real ocean dive with your instructor right beside you. The full experience takes around 4 hours.

Minimum age is 8 years old, and you should be comfortable in the water.

Yes, if you’re staying in the Maspalomas area or nearby (Bahía Feliz, San Agustín, Playa del Inglés, Maspalomas, Costa Meloneras, Pasito Blanco, Arguineguín, Patalavaca or Puerto Rico). It’s completely free.

We keep our groups deliberately small.

For Try Scuba and beginner dives, the ratio is a maximum of 2 students per instructor. For guided dives with certified divers, groups are kept small to ensure a quality experience and personal attention for every diver.

We do not operate as a large commercial operation — every diver matters.

We use professional-grade equipment from leading brands including Scubapro, Fourth Element, Mares, and Cressi. All gear is regularly inspected and serviced.

We also use Coltri compressors to fill our tanks, which allows us to provide both regular air and Nitrox (enriched air) mixes.

We understand that holiday plans can change. We offer flexible rescheduling — if you need to change your date, contact us as early as possible (with at least 24 hours’ notice) and we will do our best to accommodate you.

For cancellations, the e-learning component of any course is non-refundable but never expires, meaning you can use it at any SSI center worldwide at any time.

Please contact us directly for full details on our current cancellation policy.

After your Open Water Diver certification, your diving journey is just beginning. The next step is the SSI Advanced Adventurer (2–3 days), which lets you explore 5 adventure dives of your choice and dive to 30 metres. From there you can take the SSI Diver Stress and Rescue course, pursue specialty certifications (Nitrox, Deep, Night, Wreck, Photography, Navigation, and more), and work towards SSI Divemaster if you want to turn your passion into a profession.

We do! Contact us and we’ll walk you through our dive packages and the best deals for your stay.

Yes. Just ask when booking and we’ll explain the options. Sometimes we even look good in them.

We also offer the SSI Photo and Video Specialty course if you want to learn to capture your own underwater images.

Most of Gran Canaria’s best dive sites, including El Cabrón marine reserve, are suitable for Open Water certified divers (maximum 18 metres). Sites with deeper sections, such as certain areas around the Arona wreck or deeper reef walls, require Advanced certification (up to 30 metres). Our team will always match the dive site to the certification and experience level of the group on that day.

The SSI Diamond Center rating reflects consistent excellence in training quality, safety standards, equipment, and customer service. Not all dive centers achieve or maintain this status — it requires ongoing commitment to the highest standards in every aspect of the operation.

Brothers Diving is proud to hold this rating.

The fastest way to book is directly ONLINE or, if you prefere, you can contact us.

We recommend booking in advance, especially during peak season (July to October), to secure your preferred dates.

The SSI or PADI Open Water Diver course at Brothers Diving typically takes 3 days.

This includes online theory (which you can complete before arriving via the MySSI or PADI app), confined water sessions to practice essential skills, and 4 open water dives to a maximum of 18 metres.

Upon completion, you receive an internationally recognised certification valid worldwide for life.
