About us
The Brothers Story
We don’t remember if it was a sunny or rainy day when Myles met Mario, the only thing Myles remembers is Mario was 2 minutes late! Arriving at 7.02 am (that’s still 7.00 am for Spanish people) to the agreed location, it was at this point a resigned Myles (English) realized he was not gonna find any other Spanish person understanding punctuality anywhere close to what an English person would expect.
Alessandra (Italian) was somehow around since 2017, having known Myles from diving at the centre where Myles worked, but she became an important part of the story in June 2019 after forgetting her mask and making Mario climb a steep hill to get it for her (long story behind, you’re welcome to ask for it once diving with us!).
We met in Malta where we worked together as scuba diving instructors at the same centre. Prior to that we all came from very different backgrounds and career paths, something we believe makes it easier for us to fulfil your needs as a diver.
When we first met the thought of owning and running our own Diving Centre was beyond reach, but with a lot of work and planning (3 YEARS!) we firmly believe we have produced a modern and forward-thinking experience for our customers.
Between us we have dived all over the world working for various centres and we have both seen good and bad, we feel we have learnt and taken a lot from those experiences during the planning of our own centre. Our goal is to have a centre where you feel welcome, at ease, safe, dive in quality equipment and most importantly have fun!
Only The Best Experience
When starting the process of building the Brothers Diving Centre we decided it would be better for our customers, and our brand, to use higher quality equipment than what is generally accepted as normal for a dive centre.
This includes and is not limited to:
- high quality wetsuits from Fourth Element and Scubapro
- high quality masks from Cressi
- the best recreational fins from Tecline
- some integrated pocket BCDs from Mares
- and of course, having our own “in house” Coltri Air and Nitrox compressors.
Having the option of diving with Nitrox is valuable for our customers for safer diving, increased bottom times and of course feeling less tired after diving thus maximising your options for other activities after diving. Have a look at the Enriched Air course we offer if you want to know more!
In addition, we stock a good selection of high quality well priced masks in the shop to ensure your experience is as comfortable in the future as it was when diving with us!
As a Blue Oceans “Eco friendly” official partner dive centre we:
- use products that are Eco friendly,
- recycle (even our lead weights for diving are from lead fishing weights found in the ocean and recycled into diving weights!),
- have a water fountain to fill your own water bottle to reduce plastic waste (we even sell aluminium water bottles if you don’t have your own!) and last but not least
- collect waste on every dive – every dive is a clean-up dive!
To conclude, our vehicles are some of the most fuel efficient vans available!
Our team
- SSI & PADI INSTRUCTOR
Whilst working in Finance I started scuba diving as a hobby and was soon hooked and racking up dives all over Asia where I worked and at the same time furthering my scuba qualifications/knowledge (it was at this time that I always dreamed of becoming a Diving Instructor). Following this I worked in the Events industry for a few years, it was then that I decided I wanted to work for myself, I started a small business and ran that successfully for many years, life was good but I was unfulfilled, it was time for a change!
I have been a diver since the year 2000 and an Instructor with PADI since january 2017 and an instructor with SSI since may 2018, during this time I have certified students in all aspects of the sport from beginner through to Divemaster for both agencies. I love teaching and guiding, would I rather teach or guide? tough question! Probably would choose guiding qualified divers!
Other passions: Motorbikes, Golf and Snowboarding
Pet hates: Beach days (unless it’s to go diving from a beach, then ok!)
- SSI & PADI INSTRUCTORS
Mario was used to working under a different type of pressure, managing a busy 14 screen cinema. Being a diver since 2006, it was already 2015 when he decided to radically change his life, leaving everything and moving from Spain to Australia. In the land Down Under he started his path on the diving industry, and finally became a diving instructor in 2018 once back to Spain.
Alessandra had been living in Malta since 2010, having an office job and managing a team of Fraud Analysts. She’d always been in love with the underwater world, and she became a diver in 2015. After diving together with Mario for the first time in June 2019, and after seeing her performance underwater (she was already a Rescue Diver at that time), it was Mario’s turn to convince Alessandra to change her path from the I-gaming industry into becoming a diving professional during that same summer season.
She couldn’t resist Mario’s charms and together they have been traveling and working since then around the Mediterranean and South East Asia.
Other passions: International Cuisine, Puzzles and Travels.
Pet hates: Smart asses and lazy people. We are lazy enough!
